Equestrian Law Equestrian Law, also referred to as Equine Law, is law that relates to horses and riders. It covers a number of issues including contracts for buying and selling horses, boarding, breeding, leasing, training and transportation. It also includes litigation for cases of misrepresentation, breaches of contract, and injuries to horses and riders. Additionally, there are related issues that may require legal assistance including buying and leasing of farm and stable properties, zoning and municipal ordinance matters, and resolving environmental problems that may result from improper handling and disposition of animal wastes. Improper farm waste management may lead to significant fines and penalties as well as possible liability to neighboring property owners. The Horseracing Industry is growing in Horse Shows are popular in our area, ranging from the informal “fun” shows at riding clubs to the very structured, sanctioned events that are part of national competitions. Contracts for the competitors, the judges, the ring stewards, the announcer and sometimes food and other vendors should be prepared or at least reviewed by an attorney.
